Day 1
On the first day, explore the city centre of Çanakkale and experience the local daily life. As part of the route, you'll also visit nearby attractions, such as museums and the Archaeological Site of Troy.
Start the day with Turkish breakfast at a seaside restaurant to gain energy. Then, you can visit the Çanakkale Naval Museum and the Çanakkale Archaeology Museum. These are remarkable destinations to gain a deeper understanding of the city’s story and connect with its rich cultural heritage.
You can take a break for lunch. Try Çanakkale’s famous meatballs, or if you’re vegetarian, the well-known börülce (cowpea) patties. And don’t miss out on tasting the region’s renowned peynir helvası (cheese halva) for dessert.
Your next destination will be the Archaeological Site of Troy, one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world. Best known from Homer’s Iliad, Troy was the legendary setting of the Trojan War and shows evidence of continuous settlement since the early Bronze Age.
Before exploring the ancient site, you can visit the nearby Museum of Troy, which provides essential archaeological context and helps interpret the layers of settlement you will later see at the ruins.
The experience continues at the archaeological site itself, where you can wander around the remnants of ancient walls, gates, and houses, as well as the symbolic wooden Trojan Horse installed within the site. The visit brings together archaeological remains and mythological tradition, providing a layered perspective on Troy’s long history.
For dinner, you can enjoy fresh seafood with stunning views of the Çanakkale Strait, also known as the Dardanelles. Afterwards, you can stay at one of the cosy boutique hotels in the city centre that offer comfortable rooms and sea views.
Day 2
In the morning, head to the Assos Archaeological Site from the city centre. On your way, you’ll also pass through Behramkale Village, where history, nature, and local life come together.
Assos Archaeological Site, founded in the 7th century BCE, is renowned for its stunning sea views and rich history. Once a key cultural and commercial centre, visitors today can explore its ancient walls, a restored Doric temple of Athena, a theatre with panoramic vistas, and the remains of houses and public buildings.
For lunch, fresh seafood from the fishermen at Assos Harbour is highly recommended. After enjoying a walk along the seaside and capturing the views, you can explore the charming stone streets and local life of the cosy and authentic Behramkale Village nearby.
In Behramkale, you can take photographs of its narrow streets, preserving traditional architecture. Browse the local markets for handicrafts and hand-made delights. Behramkale is also known as an artist village, and visitors can join workshops held by local artisans and painters.
You can taste some Turkaegean-style olive oil dishes for a light and flavorful dinner. Stay overnight in a cosy stone house or a boutique hotel tucked away in the village.
Day 3
You’ll discover the natural wonders of Çanakkale on the final day by walking among the trees of Mount Ida National Park. Then, meet with the handicraft culture in the Yeşilyurt Village, a village that is nestled in the lush greenery.
In the early light of the morning, hit the road to Mount Ida to feel the serenity in its quietest time. It is a lush, mountainous area known for its rich biodiversity, cool forest air, and mythological significance. It is also eternally tied to the mythology of the Trojan War.
Revered as the sacred domain of the Mother Goddess Cybele, it is most famous as the setting for the Judgment of Paris, the fateful beauty contest that triggered the war. Its summit, Gargarus, served as the principal vantage point from which Zeus and the Olympian gods observed and intervened in the battles below, cementing its pivotal role in Homer's Iliad.
You will feel the traces of the past while exploring this legendary mountain. Enjoy scenic hikes, hidden waterfalls, and panoramic viewpoints. It’s also a great spot for picnics, nature photography, and guided eco-walks through centuries-old pine and chestnut trees.
Afterwards, head to Yeşilyurt Village, nestled on the slopes of Mount Ida. You can take a break here and taste some of the village’s local delicacies. Then, browse locally made handicrafts, such as handwoven textiles, olive oil soaps, and traditional ceramics.
In the late afternoon, you can head back toward Assos. Take time to relax by the harbour, enjoy the unique sunset views, and capture the moment with a photo. End your beautiful Aegean day with an al fresco dinner featuring fresh seafood and olive oil–based dishes.
