Day 1: Altınova Village
You will begin by visiting Altınova Village, where one of the most delicious Ayvalık olive oils is made. You will find many local and artisanal olive oil producers in this village. In the time of the olive harvest, you will attend events featuring olive and olive oil tastings.
The village is also a beautiful destination in the region for a peaceful summer vacation and a chance to explore the Turkaegean culture. Visit the local Altınova Bazaar to find a variety of local and handmade products, such as fruit jams, grape molasses, local cheeses, and more.
You can also head to Altınova Beach, which is very close to the town centre, to enjoy its crystal-clear waters and see the unique sand island.
Day 2: Küçükköy
The following day, set off for Küçükköy early in the morning, a village also preferred by boutique and traditional olive oil producers. The region’s centuries-old olive trees produce some of the finest olives in the country, which result in high-quality, aromatic oils known for their health benefits and distinctive taste.
Local producers still use traditional methods, hand-picking olives and using cold-press techniques, to preserve the natural flavour and richness. You can spend this day with olive oil tastings and strolling along the cobbled streets of the village.
The origins of this village trace to the 15th century, and its architecture clearly reflects that deep-rooted heritage. Küçükköy will be a feast for both the eyes and the palate. Enjoy pleasant walks, discover historic houses, and capture beautiful moments through your lens.
Day 3: Ayvalık
After visiting the two villages nearby, you will rest and enjoy your vacation in Ayvalık at the end of the olive harvest route. Ayvalık, renowned for its unique olive variety bearing the same name, is one of the finest destinations for olive oil tasting.
Beyond tasting, you can discover the distinctive Turkaegean culture and savour light Turkish olive oil dishes at local restaurants.
Ayvalık's architectural character is also worth exploring, with its stone houses that reflect a unique blend of neo-classical and late Ottoman styles. The narrow, winding streets are lined with well-preserved stone houses featuring high ceilings, bay windows, and elegant façades influenced by neo-classical aesthetics.
These architectural structures, shaped by the town’s multicultural history during the 19th and early 20th centuries, create a distinctive urban fabric that captures the region’s layered cultural past.
Celebrate the last day of your route by swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Sarımsaklı Beach and sunbathing on its sandy shores. With its historic streets, the lingering scent of olives, and its peaceful ambience, Ayvalık promises a summer dream for its visitors.
