Day 1: Geyve

Geyve, situated 35 kilometres from Sakarya, is your first destination. The region offers popular thermal facilities, allowing you to reconnect with nature in pools of mineral-rich water.

Bathing is a great way to relax, reflect, and socialise, and these amazing facilities provide a perfect environment for comfort and rejuvenation. So, Geyve is an unmissable choice to take a plunge into invigorating hot springs and relieve all the tiredness of the year.

The district also stands out for fertile soil and organic farming areas. You can taste delicious local dishes prepared with organic ingredients and buy fresh organic products at local markets.

Savour ıslama köfte (ıslama meatball), Geyve ayvası (Geyve quince), and balkabağı kıvırması on your first day. What makes ıslama köfte special is the bread, soaked in broth and powdered pepper sauce, alongside köfte made from Sakarya’s pasture-raised meat.

Additionally, balkabağı kıvırması is a very famous pumpkin dessert of the region. It is made by sprinkling grated pumpkin and walnuts between the thinly rolled dough. Then, it is rolled with a rolling pin, and a warm, thick sugar and water mixture (şerbet) is poured over it.

Every July, Geyve comes alive with another attraction. At Kırca Plateau, considered an amazing spot of the district, you can have fun in the fresh air at the plateau festivals with the participation of thousands of people.

Day 2: Taraklı

The second day of your Sakarya thermal route brings you to Taraklı, listed among the best tourism villages by UN Tourism (UNWTO). Here, you can enjoy extensive thermal facilities set in the heart of nature.

These facilities offer thermal pools, Turkish baths, saunas, steam rooms, pools with slides, and more. The steaming, mineral-rich thermal waters simmering beneath Taraklı have long been a source of wellness, relieving stress and restoring vitality.

Moreover, Taraklı is among the amazing districts of Sakarya that have preserved their historical and natural beauties. You can explore Taraklı’s centuries-old mansions, graceful stone and wooden houses lining cobblestone streets, and hills with unique panoramic views, while taking unforgettable photographs along the way.

While wandering through this beautiful town, don’t miss tasting dartılı keşkek. Although it is made in many parts of Türkiye, keşkek holds a special place in Sakarya cuisine. Made with wheat, chicken, butter, pepper, and salt, keşkek is an indispensable dish for special occasions, especially weddings, and is traditionally served to distinguished guests.
