Autumn Festival Route Along the Turkish Riviera

Autumn Festival Route Along the Turkish Riviera

The Turkish Riviera, which includes Antalya, Adana, Mersin, and Hatay, is famous for its succulent and tasty fruits.

These cities are filled with sunshine and enjoy some of Türkiye’s warmest summers. After the toll of the summer heat, the bliss of nature takes over and produces abundant harvests of excellent crops.

For example, pomegranates, avocados, bananas, mangos, and dragon fruit are all harvested in Gazipaşa, Antalya.

Likewise, in Mersin, the citrus festival commemorates nature's generosity. Many local celebrations embellish autumn, the harvest season for tropical and Turkish Riviera fruits, celebrating the start of milder temperatures.

Located on the outskirts of Antalya, the quiet farming town of Gazipaşa is well-known for its fruit harvest.

For years, Gazipaşa has supplied customers all around Türkiye and beyond with avocados and bananas of the finest quality. Tropical fruits, including mango and passion fruit, as well as seedless pomegranates, are also the town's specialities.

Honouring the town's unique advantages in fruit agriculture, the Gazipaşa Seedless Pomegranate and Tropical Fruit Festival takes place annually in October.

The festival's schedules include numerous contests that display the locals' expertise in home cooking, pastry making, culinary arts, and cocktail making.

Adana is one of the most unique cities of Türkiye, and its cuisine is part of its charm. The city is distinguished by long, scorching summers and spicy kebabs.

This gastronomic destination is well-known for its Anatolian and Mediterranean cuisine. Adana's famous delicacies include Adana Kebap, a spicy, hand-minced lamb kebap skewered and cooked, and Şalgam (fermented turnips and purple carrot drink).

The International Taste of Adana Festival, held annually in October, is a great celebration of Adana's culinary heritage. The festival combines classic and contemporary gastronomic experiences, including tasting stations, cooking demos, workshops, and street food markets.

The International Taste of Adana Festival not only celebrates the local cuisine but also promotes cross-cultural exchange by inviting chefs from different countries to showcase their culinary traditions. The festival also features live performances.

Mersin's hot summers can be celebrated by its abundant citrus harvest in the autumn.

Autumn weather in Mersin remains warm, but it does not overwhelm you. Where else would it be more fitting to enjoy citrus fruits as a way to commemorate the Turkish Riviera climate and culture?

Celebrating the citrus sector in the Mersin region, the Mersin Citrus Festival unites local farmers, chefs, artists, and international guests. The uniqueness of the Mersin Citrus Festival lies in its approach to joy, which encompasses a range of culinary activities, workshops, and exhibitions.

As a form of artistic expression and national pride in agriculture, the streets are decked out in ornate floats adorned with mandarins, lemons, and oranges for parades, traditional dances, and concerts. The annual Mersin Citrus Festival kicks off in November, coinciding with the beginning of the citrus harvest.
