Within the scope of sustainable tourism, in order to promote cycling tourism, Türkiye announced the “Bicycle Friendly Accommodation Facilities Certificate” application. According to the application process, accommodation facilities will be entitled to become certified if they fulfil the following conditions:
- Employment of personnel having information about cycling routes
- Providing written or digital information about the cultural, historical, and natural richness of the surrounding region
- Providing continuous information about the current weather forecast and road conditions at general locations in view
- Having an indoor bicycle shelter with equipment for parking and securing bicycles and monitoring this shelter
- Having a marked and allocated area with equipment for washing and repairing bicycles
- Having services of quick laundry and quick drying for cyclists sharing for short timeframes
- Having a restaurant or breakfast hall, preparing a special menu for cyclists, and informing them about the nutritional values of food
- Offering the opportunity to purchase energy gels/bars to be consumed on a ride, as well as drinks including electrolytes and/or carbohydrates for cyclists
There are a range of facilities across Türkiye that are now certificated as bike friendly.
