One of Anatolia's oldest settlements, Kütahya combines a rich cultural heritage shaped by the Phrygian, Seljuk and Ottoman civilisations with an abundance of natural geothermal resources. Widely recognised as the City of Ceramics and Thermal Springs, Kütahya is among Türkiye's leading thermal tourism destinations, distinguished by the diversity of its mineral-rich geothermal waters and long-established spa tradition.

Kütahya's geothermal potential is distributed across a wide network of thermal springs, each characterised by distinctive hydrogeochemical properties. The Yoncalı Thermal Centre, located close to the city centre, is particularly recognised for its well-developed physical medicine and rehabilitation facilities. Other important geothermal areas include Ilıca, Emet, Simav (Eynal), Tavşanlı (Göbel), Gediz (Murat Dağı) and Hisarcık, whose thermo-mineral waters are rich in sulphates, calcium, magnesium and bicarbonate. These thermal waters are used in balneotherapy as complementary therapies, particularly for rheumatic conditions, musculoskeletal disorders, osteoarthritis and chronic lower back pain. Emet is notable for its distinctive algae-rich geothermal waters, while the high-temperature geothermal springs of Simav further demonstrate the remarkable diversity of the region's geothermal resources.

Kütahya's appeal extends well beyond its thermal heritage. Surrounded by pine forests, highland plateaux and exceptionally clean air, the city is internationally renowned for its traditional ceramic craftsmanship. Combining the centuries-old culture of the Turkish bath with modern thermal hotels, rehabilitation services and wellness facilities, Kütahya offers visitors a destination where health, nature and cultural heritage come together in a truly holistic experience.
