Visa-Free Entry Policy for Chinese Citizens Traveling to Türkiye (Effective from 2 January 2026)

Pursuant to a Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Türkiye, and in accordance with Article 18 of the Law on Foreigners and International Protection, Türkiye will implement a visa-free entry policy for holders of valid ordinary passports of the People’s Republic of China starting from 2 January 2026.

The key provisions of the policy are outlined below for the reference of eligible travelers.

I. Scope of Application

Eligible Travelers

Citizens of the People’s Republic of China holding a valid ordinary passport.

Permitted Purposes of Entry

Visa-free entry is granted solely for the following purposes:

Tourism (including sightseeing and leisure travel)

Transit (temporary stay during onward travel)

Non-Applicable Purposes

This visa-free policy does not apply to travel for employment, study, business activities, long-term residence, or any other purposes beyond tourism or transit.

Travelers intending to enter Türkiye for such purposes must apply for the appropriate visa or residence permit in advance, in accordance with relevant regulations.

II. Duration of Stay

Visa-free travelers must comply with the following rules regarding length of stay:

The total duration of stay must not exceed 90 days within any rolling 180-day period.

Travelers may choose between:

Single-entry stay: a continuous stay of up to 90 days; or

Multiple-entry stays: multiple entries within a 180-day rolling period, provided that the cumulative duration of stay does not exceed 90 days.

Travelers are advised to plan their itineraries carefully to ensure compliance with the above requirements.

III. Basic Entry Requirements

While no visa application is required prior to travel, entry into Türkiye remains subject to border control procedures. Travelers are advised to carry the following documents for possible inspection:

Valid passport: Ordinary passport of the People’s Republic of China

Proof of travel arrangements: such as return or onward flight tickets and accommodation details

Proof of sufficient financial means: to cover expenses during the stay in Türkiye

The decision on whether to inspect such documents and the specific inspection procedures shall be determined by the Turkish border authorities at the point of entry.

IV. Entry Procedures

Upon arrival at a port of entry in Türkiye, travelers should proceed to passport control in accordance with on-site instructions, present their passport, and cooperate with the required border checks.

Once the entry inspection is completed and an entry stamp is affixed, travelers may enter Türkiye.

No visa fee is charged for visa-free entry.

V. Additional Notes

This policy applies to Türkiye’s designated ports of entry open to international travelers.

During their stay, travelers are required to comply with the laws and regulations of the Republic of Türkiye.
