Originating in the city of Bartın in Anatolia, wire breaking is a traditional handicraft involving thread made of tulle.
The art of "Tel Kırma", woven wire fabric, is made by embroiling silver tulle and similar thin wires on tulle and fabric with a special needle. Woven Wire has taken this name as a result of practitioners breaking the wires without using scissors.
A "Geographical Indication Registration Certificate" was obtained in 2009 in order to prove that Woven Wire, which is produced only in Bartın, is a process belonging to the city and has only been produced in some provinces in recent years.
